Wicked Girls by Heather Atkinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars Another superb read. Heather Atkinson has written some absolutely amazing books, the characters and stories she creates are always first class. I don't know how or where the idea's come from but so glad she keeps coming up with new and fresh reads. This time around, Wicked girls takes us back to the start for Toni and Valerie. If you have read the Gallowburn Series then you will be familiar with the main characters of this book. Toni and Valerie are cousins, Part of the notorious McVay family. This book shows us just how it all started for this family. What makes them into the characters we know and love in the previous books. It was good to go back to the start and see just what turned these two ladies into the women they have become. Family life certainly wasn't easy and it's clear while reading this book just what turned Toni into the iron woman she is today. Valerie may seem like the one with her head screwed on, the one that is calm and in control but don't let her dog collar fool you. She is also a woman to be taken seriously and listened to. There was superb tension throughout this book, the story kept me gripped and wanting more. absolutely gripping and a first class read. This author can certainly write a page turner. Bad Blood by Heather Atkinson #BadBlood #Review #Boldwoodbloggers @rararesources @HeatherAtkinso14/6/2021
I absolutely loved the first book in this new series, I also loved this one, the second book.
Heather Atkinson is a very talented author, each of the series she does is fantastic, you get lost in her story telling, addicted to the books because you really do not know what is coming next. Her books are not repetitive, each and every book feels new and fresh. In this the newest series we are slowly getting to know the characters, and as always Heather has created fantastic likeable characters. We have four friends, who are known on the estate as The Blood Brothers-Jamie, Logan, Gary, and Digger. Brilliant characters, I can see these characters could have a huge future and this could be a series that goes a long way. The boys Keep the estate clean, clean as in, no trouble, no dealers. If there is a problem then the boys are called up on. Jamie has nothing to do with his father, however he's turned up like a bad penny and bringing trouble with him. Jamie's mother Jackie is not impressed, she has no time at all for Jamie's father and wants Jamie to stay away from him. Jackie is a formidable character, she's first class, I love how her character has been created and her love of a frying pal is brilliant. Jamie is also stressed with the upcoming court case of his girlfriend, Allegra's father. Her father is being tired for her murder. Jamie had never loved like he did with Allegra, she was Jamie's all, all he ever wanted and all he ever needed. The two of them being brought up in totally different worlds is how the trouble from her father started for them in the first book. Jamie has to try and get on with life, but with his father on the scene it appears things can only get worse. Totally loved this book, each and every page was enjoyed. I really can not wait for more from this series and I'm eager to see what happens with some of these characters. Well done to the author you have created another addictive series. Can't recommend this book highly enough, but must stress it will be much better if you have read book 1. Happy reading.
If you can't trust your family, who can you trust...?
Glasgow gangster Jamie Gray and his fellow Blood Brothers rule the Gallowburn Estate with an iron fist. No one messes around on their turf without consequences. But when Jamie’s erstwhile dad, Jason Gray, reappears after many years away - some of them spent behind bars - the Blood Brothers are drawn into the murky and dangerous world of the toughest gangster of them all – The Queen of Glasgow, Toni McVay. Toni is the head of the most powerful organised crime family in Scotland and, as the psychotic leader enjoys scooping out the eyeballs of those who displease her, Jamie has no option but to do her bidding. With the love of his life Allegra still missing, his enemies closing in, and his family’s safety at risk, Jamie Gray faces the battle of his life. But with his father’s bad blood running through his veins, and the bravery and brains he has inherited from his mother Jackie, Jamie has all the tools he needs to survive. When you’re running the streets, loyalty is everything… Gangs rule the streets of the rough Gallowburn Estate in Glasgow, but the deepest rivalry of all is between Jamie Gray and his friends, known as the Blood Brothers, and their enemies, the Lawsons. The two gangs clash frequently, but when a phone containing incriminating evidence disappears after a particularly brutal run-in, the stakes are higher than ever. Jamie’s mother Jackie is as hard as nails and is not going to let anyone hurt her boy – even if she has to roll up her sleeves and get stuck in. What she wants more than anything though, is to see Jamie turn his back on the street life. And when he meets spoilt rich-girl Allegra, who has a penchant for shoplifting, Jackie thinks she could be Jamie’s way out. But with the Lawsons closing in, and everyone taking sides, there is only one way out for Jamie, and to triumph he must take out his biggest enemy… If you love Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers, and Jessie Keane, you’ll love Heather Atkinson. The first book in what I can only say is going to be an epic series. This author has written some of my favourite book series ever. I have loved each and every book by this author and believe me there are a lot.
In this book as her others, Heather has created some outstanding, memorable characters. A lot of these characters wil stay in your mind long after finishing this book. There is a hidden sense of humour in these books along with the gripping, gritty sometimes gruesome story. To be honest when I first started reading this I thought it was a little tame compared to some of Heathers other books. But don't let that put you off, once this book ramps up and you have gotten to know everyone it really sucks you in. You will fly through the pages. So, book 1 is set in Glasgow on the Gallowburn estate. Another of those estates that you love to read about, but don't want to live on. An estate where family and loyalty is important as is being able to look after yourself. 4 Guys from the estate known as The Blood Brothers, 4 friends, Jamie, Gary, Digger and Logan. Each on a character in their own right, the book is based around Jamie and his family, his frying pan lover of a mother and his younger Brother Charlie. The Lawsons are The Blood Brothers, rivals. when they clash there is always trouble. While working a local shop Jamie meets Allegra Abernethy, there story then turns into one crazy adventure. Jamie being from the estate and Allegra the daughter of a very controlling, rich, criminal father. She likes to spend her days away from home and away from her father. I especially loved Jackie, Jamie's mum in this book, what a great character she is. she will have no one upsetting her cubs, Mamma bear will be there with her weapon of choice in her hand. Her frying pan. Also Ephraim, he seems like such an oddball character you can't help but like him. The whole cast of this book are amazing in their own rights, the story flows brilliantly and you are whisked along on a bumpy rollercoaster of a ride. A must read for anyone who like the gritty gangland books. First class..

Its only after a lottery win she decides to leave, but has left it a little late, and Daryl turns into a major monster.. She soon enters a new relationship with Daryl's best friends, The big hunky Zak. But will she ever be rid of Daryl, will he really let her leave and move on so easily? The story starts to build right from the beginning, and to be honest it just has you gripped the whole way through, a really "need to keep reading book... I thoroughly enjoyed the read and the Characters are realistic, to the point many times i found myself wanting to punch them, or shout out at them. And at one point I also filled up with tears, sooooo glad i was on my own at that point. Contains sex, strong language, violence and scenes of domestic abuse. Shattered (Dividing Line #5) Heather Atkinson Contains strong language, sex and violence. Well after just finishing book 5,4,3,2 and one, back to back- fantastic story line I just couldnt put it down, i had to keep reading a few more pages at every opportunity. I'm actually gutterd I have read all 5 and have to wait until the summer for book 6. I love it when I find an author who's books I enjoy but have not read them all yet, as it means i get a good few weeks out of reading them all. And after enjoying this series so much, I will definatly be reading more of her books. The characters were interesting and at different points I found myself loving and hating the main characters, which is always a good sign and the story was action packed. Without giving away the plot, the twists and there is plenty of them lull you into thinking that the ending will be different to how it was. This book continues the story of the Laws and Maguires, and I can honestly say each book has got better. An absolute must if you like Martina Cole style books. Book description.. A secret war is being fought in Manchester. A family, once close allies, is torn apart as the head of the family turns on his own. Rachel Law is recovering in hospital after a savage assault and her husband Ryan burns with the need to avenge her. Alex Maguire plots the destruction of his enemies from his hospital bed, doing all in his power to slip them up. As Alex and Rachel recuperate, the two opposing factions form new alliances and attack one another with renewed ferocity and cunning, fighting for the highest stakes imaginable. Events culminate in a showdown that will shatter the family forever. Contains strong language as well as scenes of violence, torture and sex. Please note, this is not a stand-alone novel and is part of a series. Fractured (Dividing Line #4) Heather Atkinson Contains strong language, sex and violence. Well after just finishing book 4,3,2 and one, back to back- fantastic story line I just couldnt put it down, i had to keep reading a few more pages at every opportunity. I love it when I find an author who's books I enjoy but have not read them all yet, as it means i get a good few weeks out of reading them all. Without giving away the plot, the twists and there is plenty of them lull you into thinking that the ending will be different to how it was. A few times I kept thinking I know where this is going. But each time I was Wrong. This book continues the story of the Laws and Maguires, and I can honestly say each book has got better. I now have book 5 to finish. An absolute must if you like Martina Cole style books. Book description.. Life is good in Devon for Rachel and Ryan Law until a tragic loss brings them back to Manchester. Their return sends the volatile Alex Maguire over the edge and his behaviour becomes increasingly unhinged as he turns on those closest to him. Rachel Law. When he realises his family are in danger, Ryan throws off his law-abiding persona and becomes the man he used to be in order to aggressively defend them. When Rachel disappears battle lines are drawn, allies becoming enemies as members of the Maguire and Law families pick sides to help find Rachel and topple a king. A Family Divided (Dividing Line #3) (Kindle Edition) Another fantastic book in the Dividing Line series - can't wait to read the next one, which i must add i started reading as soon as i finished this one. Rachel and Ryan Law have moved into the Legal business world, away from the Criminal world that has so far not only Financed most of their lives, but also managed to destroy a lot of it to. Trying to build a new life will never be easy when you are associated with the Maguires. Can they cut all ties and lead a happy trouble free life,,,, NOT A CHANCE......... This book really did kept my attention, and I really needed to keep reading to find out just what was going to happen, A great read, but also heartbreaking in parts. I really feel like i know the characters in these books, and have all ready started book 4 and downloaded book 5... going to be gutted when i finish this series. I think anyone who enjoys Martina Cole style books would enjoy this series. Dividing Line (Dividing Line Book #1) Heather Atkinson Contains strong language, sex and violence. first time i have read one of heather's books fantastic story line I just couldn't put it down, i had to keep reading a few more pages at every opportunity. But each time I was Wrong. The book is set in Manchester and focuses on two rival gangs the Maguires and Laws. Rachel falls for a Danny who is part of the Maguire family, even though she is from the area run by the Law family. This is where the trouble starts and to be honest it never stops. The Maguires also find themselves the target of The Coalition, a shadowy group made up of the city's premiere citizens who are tired of the Maguires' rule and will stop at nothing to see them fall.
